Floyd Wilkinson
Graveside services for Floyd Lawrence Wilkinson, 76, of Proctor, were held Saturday, January 18, 2005, at Oakwood Cemetery of Hamilton, with his nephew, Alan Attaway officiating. One of Floyd’s many young friends of Odessa, Christina Perez, led the hymn “Softly and Tenderly”. He died Thursday, January 16, 2003. He was born in Sudan to Joe and Mary Wilkinson on July 9, 1926, one of the first pair of twins born in Lamb County. His twin Lloyd F. died November 6, 1926. He attended Sudan High School and was a member of the class of 1945. He married Modena Whisenant August 8, 1958 in Odessa. He later married Arlema Ingle, April 1, 1971 in Del Rio. She died September 24, 1978. Floyd retired as a supervisor at American Linen Supply. He had worked in the linen supply business for 42 years, retiring at the age of 72 at which time he moved from Odessa to Proctor. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was proceeded in death by both parents, a sister, Opha September 30, 1954 and a brother, Wayne January 12, 2002. Survivors include two stepdaughters, Merle Deisher of Comanche and Bessie Halydier, of Livingston; two stepsons, Eugene Whisenant of Dublin and H.M. Whisenant of Stephenville; one brother, James “Jimmy” Wilkinson of Proctor; five sisters, Genevieve Kerr of Sudan, Mary Jo Attaway and Ada Greer of Casper, WY, Mable Wages of Earth and Ruby Grace Gipson of Gig Harbor, WA, 16 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.
